Luxcore Names New Head of Marketing

Luxcore is pleased to announce Brian Dors as Head of Marketing, working alongside COO Guillaume H. and the already established marketing team of Mike H. & Robert P.

“Establish & Execute” were Brian’s first words when asked what he would bring to the table for Luxcore’s marketing effort. He comes bearing over 13 years of experience, with an interesting array of knowledge in promotional & commercial work, journalism, entertainment and public speaking. He also comes with steadfast leadership and structure as a former Non-Commissioned Officer in the military. When asked about what his first few objectives will be he responded with the following:

“First and foremost, the Luxcore team is comprised of an extremely talented and intelligent group of individuals achieving some amazing work in the blockchain space. There is no other group out there with a comparable model and set of accomplishments. I plan to channel that technical effort to create a concerted marketing campaign with clear and concise objectives that can be readily achieved. It’s going to be a bold yet attainable road ahead of us, and I look forward to driving the Lux platform forward.”

It is with Luxcore’s pleasure that Brian will be brought on effective immediately. He will be reachable via email as well as in our community servers on Telegram and Discord.

5.2.5 Wallet Update & Hardfork

Sunday Luxcore announced a mandatory upgrade to version 5.2.5. Although this may have caught some people off guard, the short turnaround for the protocol-enforced fork at block 465000 resulted from a unanimous decision by the core team as well as community leaders.

Last week three team members discovered what seemed to be possible malicious activity on the chain. Over a sufficient and expedient period of time the entire team closely monitored the situation until the activity was confirmed.

A patch was proposed by one of the core developers and immediately followed up by rigorous testing with the entire team. Once a consensus was established that the patch was a success, it was quickly implemented.

Luxcore apologizes for the inconvenience that the short noticed upgrade may have caused. Ample time is always given before any mandatory upgrade; however, maintaining the security and the safety of the chain is always the first priority.

Any questions regarding the the wallet and fork can be addressed in one of the many Luxcore communication channels. If you have not yet upgraded to version 5.2.5 yet, please do so now by clicking here.

CoinMarketCap and Luxcore bring you: Proof of Stake

From the CMC editorial desk: Having read all kinds of articles about Proof of Stake, we started wanting to see the whole picture, explained in the same place, in an easy-to-understand way. We got Luxcore to write for this week’s primer on Proof of Stake — hope you find it as good (and funny) a summary as we did!

A Short Primer on Proof of Stake

Luxcore to be listed on Bitfineon

Bitfineon is the compelling new decentralized exchange soon to be launched by our good friends at the Alqo project. As you know, Luxcoin is already listed on the Bitshares-based Crypto-Bridge, and is soon to be the star feature on Luxcore’s own LuxGate. We are such big believers in blockchain decentralization, though, that when the opportunity came along to be among the launch coins on Bitfineon we leapt at it!

Bitfineon remains for the time being in development, as the Alqo team is very thorough in their testing procedures, just like the Luxcore dev team. But if you’d like a sneak peek (Editor’s note: a “sneak peak” is a sleuthing mountain) at what trading on Bitfineon might look like, check out the following preview:

Successful PoS web-wallet-as-a-service test

We have been talking about our web-wallet-as-a-service (WWaaS) for awhile. We’ve been saying things like…

Well, the proof (of stake) is in the pudding (of steak?). We have completed our first successful test using the Lux PoS web wallet with the Espers Coin PoS blockchain.

MARKETING AND BUSINESS UPDATES

Lux Turns 1!

On October 10, Luxcore celebrated the one-year anniversary of the launch of our blockchain. The occasion gave us a chance to reflect on the many milestones the project has reached over the past year. So we prepared a funky little video summary to celebrate (plus an accompanying infographic for those who aren’t champion speed-readers). 😉

Lux’s anniversary wasn’t just a chance to reflect on the past, however, it also gave us an opportunity to look to the future. And Luxcore CEO John McAfee celebrated by giving Lux an absolutely amazing birthday present: the long-anticipated listing on a Tier one cryptocurrency exchange!

Coinbene is the 17th largest crypto exchange in the world by reported 24h volume, or the 12th largest by adjusted 24h volume according to coinmarketcap.com. Adjusted volume is the 24h trade volume for spot markets excluding markets with no fees and transaction mining; it is intended to be a more accurate reflection of real trade volume than the reported figures. The LUX/BTC market on Coinbene is live, so start trading now!

Lastly, to bring our community in on Luxcore’s birthday celebrations, we gave away some swag! A big congrats to the grand prize winner of the Twitter giveaway, @CandescentCH, as well as the runner-up winners, @MajorMastcrnode, @limayne, @Escoverrr and @iredni!

DEVELOPMENT UPDATES

LuxGate development:

+ The core processing is being integrated into luxd/lux-qt.
+ Basically, LuxGate will swap real assets and not databases.

* When a swap order is created, other nodes will create swap order.
 * If the swap order is matched, direct network connection will be initialized.
 * The addresses are exchanged in the relative blockchains.
 * When one side creates swap transaction, the other side will create swap transaction for their coin.
 * Then, the coin will be redeemed in relative blockchain.
 * If timeout is reached, luxgate will do the refund processing.
 * All processings here are performed in native lux and other coins script (eg: BTC, etc.), not a smart contract.

+ LuxGate will be integrated into Luxtre wallet and Lux QT wallet.
+ Other wallets will be integrated later.
+ We are doing the integration test and bug fixing related to swapping between BTC and LUX.
+ It is so far so good and we will be able to launch it soon.

Web wallet development:

+ Re-check the whole web wallet architecture and improve security.
+ Fix bug on automatic user deletion system.
+ Other coins testing is being performed now.
+ It is so far so good and we are ready for our services.

QT wallet and Core development:

— Hierarchical Deterministic Wallet (HD wallet) development
+ All development items were integrated.
+ Internal test, bug fixing and improvements are being performed now.
+ Most of devs are focusing on LuxGate now. So, progress will slow.

— Luxcore DApp JavaScript Library (Luxd.js)
+ A LUX full node for building applications and services with Node.js.
+ This is Luxcore JavaScript library for Smart Contract development.

Web wallet development:

— New features
+ Allow users to select inputs instead of whole addresses.
+ Email users to inform account deletion if their account have 0 balance after 30 days.
+ Small bug fixing on send tab (user confirmation window).

— Services
+ Other coins testing is being performed now.
+ It is so far so good and we are ready for our services.

QT wallet and Core development:

— Hierarchical Deterministic Wallet (HD wallet) development
+ In old Lux wallet, a pair of private/public addresses is randomly generated.
+ This requires you to take a backup each time you make a new pair of addresses.
=> Backup so many private/public addresses as the number of your transactions increase
+ With LUX HD wallet, backup will performed only once.
+ HD wallets will generate a hierarchical tree-like structure of keys which start from the seed master key based on BIP32.
+ When HD wallet is restored by using the seed key, the wallet goes ahead and drives all the private keys of the tree using BIP32.
=> The seed key backup is mandatory and should be kept safe
 + NEW UPDATE FOR THIS WEEK: All features are finished and we are doing the internal test.

— Security improvement
+ No new updates as this feature is still in on-going development. Will update in next weekly update.
+ The coin will provide 2 new functions: Transparent and Privacy.
+ Transparency uses the normal protocol, while Privacy uses the i2p protocol.
+ If people use the Transparency protocol, everything will show (tx in/out, ipaddress, etc.)
+ If people use the Privacy protocol, everything will be hidden but conditions will be applied.
+ The backend is finished and we are doing some GUIs on QT

— Luxcore DApp JavaScript Library (Luxd.js)
+ A LUX full node for building applications and services with Node.js.
+ This is Luxcore JavaScript library for Smart Contract development.
+ It is still in development; Will update in next weekly update.

Explorer development:

+ Secure masternode server IP by showing 3 X as the digits
+ Creating new design for:

* Main Page
 * Blocks Page
 * Addresses Page
 * Addresses Search Page
 * Blocks Page
 * Blocks by Date Page
 * Stats Page
 * Status Page
 * Token Search Page
 * Rich List Page

PoS Web Wallet technical update behind the scenes

PoS Web Wallet technical update behind the scenes

Today here at LUXCORE we have a technical, behind the scenes update regarding our PoS Web Wallet we wanted to share with you. We are moving forward with some efforts to further increase our server efficiency which has some temporary effects to your account depending on your balance situation. Nothing drastic or permanent, but things to keep in mind when managing your account and your LUX.

  1. On the 1st of October, if your LUX balance is at zero in your Web Wallet, you will have 5 days to increase your holdings to at least 1 LUX or your account will be deactivated. To reactivate your account all you will need to do is login again and new addresses will be generated for you.
  2. Starting next month, accounts with 0 LUX balance for 30 days in a row will get a notification by email saying the have 30 more days to rise their holdings to at least 1 LUX. If no action is taken, then your account will be deactivated until next login.

These changes are needed to decrease the amount of unnecessary server resources put towards unused wallets. The minute your wallet increases in balance as per the notes above, all you need to do is login to reactivate your account and things will be back as usual.

If you have any questions, please contact us on any of the LUXCORE social media channels.
